Advent is a season in which the Church celebrates the mercies of our Lord’s first coming and
to prepare for His Second Coming.

The spirit of Advent encompasses penance, holy longing, and sanctified hope, as the faithful prepare their souls for the grace to receive Christ worthily and look forward to eternal communion with Him.

As in Lent, the church emphasizes prayer, fasting, and almsgiving during Advent to prepare for the celebration of Christmas.

**TIME CHANGE**

St. Francis Xavier Feast Day is Tue, Dec. 3.
We will observe it with a 6:00pm Mass followed by a Pot-Luck Dinner and Social in Centennial Hall.

The parish will provide chicken as a main course.
All those who attend are welcome to bring other main course items, veggies, or deserts.

As part of Cresson Catholic Community, SA parishioners are welcome and encouraged to attend as well. It has been a long while since we got together as a parish community. So please make an effort to participate is this religious and social gathering. I hope to see many of you - from both parishes - there.

The Feast of the Immaculate Conception, Mon, Dec. 9,
remains a Holy Day of Obligation this year.

All baptized Catholics are obliged to attend Mass in honor of the Patroness
of the United States.

We will have Masses at 9:00am at FX and at 7:00pm at SA.

Great Saint Francis, well beloved and full of charity, in union with you I reverently adore the Divine Majesty. I give thanks to God for the singular gifts of grace bestowed on you in life and of glory after death, and I beg of you, with all the affection of my heart, by your powerful intercession, obtain for me the grace to live a holy life and die a holy death. I beg you to obtain for me (mention your petition). But if what I ask is not for the glory of God and for my well-being, obtain for me,
I beseech you, what will more certainly attain these ends.
Amen.
